On behalf of all the contributors to this new journal, I assure you that we are aware that the responsibility we are assuming with the publication of this new medical periodical is a difficult and demanding challenge, but also a necessary contribution that our Association must offer it to doctors, specialists and medical students! Its purpose is to be an open stage for the reflection of the best materials from all areas of Internal Medicine, being the Mother of all specialties in the field of Internal Diseases, but time, technology and the need for high professionalism in different fields made special specialties separate from her, which led to a wrinkle in this field in terms of scale global! And it was again time and necessity that made it necessary to revive this specialty, which today has an important and universally accepted role, since man is not a set of organs but functions as a unique organism, where damage to an organ or system is reflected also in other organs or systems. Even in Albania, internal diseases were born as Internal Medicine, with pioneers such as Fejzi Hoxha or Hysni Rusi, and like everywhere they were divided into specialties! It was the need of the hour that in 2004, under the suggestion of the Public Assistance of Paris, the Internal Medicine Service was re-established at UHC "Mother Teresa" under the direction of Prof. Mihal Tase, who consolidated and developed the Internal Medicine service at the same level as the sister services of Internal Medicine in the wider region. The opening of specializations in this field and the special importance that the Ministry of Health has given to this specialty in the National Strategy for the Development of Albanian Medicine constitute a special challenge to bring to the attention of young doctors the perspective in this really difficult specialty but with high satisfaction and we believe that the publication of this Journal is a further step in this direction as well! The Albanian Journal of Internal Medicine will be a scientific journal that includes a wide range of fields and will create space for all authors to make their contribution. The Editorial Board of the Journal will ensure that the articles presented by you are of a high scientific level and useful in the sense of medical practice! The journal will focus on studies of clinical medicine, epidemiology, new treatments, preventive ways, but also on any topic related to the problems of Internal Diseases. The journal of Internal Medicine aims to be an important source of scientific information for medical students, bringing them closer to scientific research and clinical practices. By offering articles from various medical disciplines, the journal will aim to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, which turns out to be the key factor for innovative approaches in both research and healthcare practice.
